What is Scout Spirit?

"Your standing as a scout
does not depend so much on
the skills of your hands or
the badges on your merit badge
sash, as on the spirit in your heart,
on what you are willing to do
for others, on whether you are
doing your very best to live
the Scout Oath and Scout Law"

The Scout Law:

A Scout is Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
and Reverent

Troop 658 will formally recognize all of our Scouts who have moved up in rank or have earned merit badges since our last Court of Honor. Families and friends are welcome to attend. Court of Honor is a formal event. All scouts should be in full uniform with neckerchiefs and merit badge sash. Scouts will show off their recent projects. This event will coincide with our annual Christmas Party. Dinner and desert will be served by our Scouts. If you want to bring something or if you have any questions, call your SPL.

Winter Trek 2008

Winter in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is like no other! Winter Treks introduce scouts to the wonderful world of winter camping, sports and winter skills. Last year Troop 658 scouts tested their winter skills on the coldest weekend of the winter season, with temperatures hovering around zero degrees and they survived in grand style! Troop 658 will be staying in heated cabins and feast on hearting meals served in the dining hall. A sample of events include ice fishing, climbing wall, 22 rifle, archery, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, camp fire program and patrol games. More info...
BSA RoomServing youth since 1923, the Winooski Scouts offer exciting, adventure based programs for boys 6th grade and up. We meet at 6:30 on Wednesday nights at Saint Francis Xavier School. Visit us and see for yourself what a difference you can make in the life of a young man.

Yes, I want to join the Boy Scouts!!!

Boy Scouting and the Spirit of Adventure

Many prominent American men in business, the professions and government have backgrounds as Boy Scouts. The American space program is a case in point. Of the 312 pilots and scientists selected as astronauts since 1959, 180 were Scouts. Of the 12 men to walk on the surface of the moon, 11 were Scouts. The first human to set foot on the moon, Neil A. Armstrong, was an Eagle Scout.

                                  Making a Difference

"When people see a boy in a scout uniform, they expect someone of good character, who is prepared to the best of his ability and ready to help those around him"

"I have always been fond of the saying that "Scouting is a game with a purpose" Even today we can still say, Scouting is about three things: It's about fun. It's about values, and it's about learning. Fun is the game, learning is the process, and values are the purpose."
Our next regular Troop meeting will be held on October 15th. Due to the fall sports practice schedules for some of our Scouts, our Troop meetings will start at 7:00pm and run until 8:00pm.

See you there!
